Le Grand Bornand
Le Grand-Bornand is a commune in the Haute-Savoie, in the heart of the Aravis massif, about thirty kilometres from Annecy, between Annecy, Chamonix and Geneva. A traditional mountain village, it is often presented as the birthplace of reblochon, the emblematic farmhouse cheese, and its wood and stone chalets are several centuries old.
The resort has two centres about 6 kilometres apart, linked by bus: the village, at around 1,000 metres, the gateway to the ski area, and Le Chinaillon, at around 1,300 metres, among pastures and old chalets.
In winter the area offers alpine skiing and a Nordic area hosting biathlon events. In summer its paths and pastures can be explored in a setting that has kept the character of a Haute-Savoie mountain village.
