A departmental bird reserve, the Cité des Oiseaux, at Les Landes-Genusson in the Vendée, is one of the largest inland wetlands in the département. With three ponds, it welcomes a great variety of birds every year, such as mallards, shovelers, great crested grebes, pochards and tufted ducks.
