Jardin des fontaines pétrifiantes
The Jardin des Fontaines Pétrifiantes is at La Sône, in the Isère, at the foot of the Vercors. Created in 1994, it showcases the limestone-laden springs and waterfalls that made the village famous. The very calcareous water deposits tufa on plants and forms tufa structures that can reach several metres in height.
The garden has more than 800 species of flowers, shrubs and plants, including exotic, Mediterranean, aquatic and tropical varieties. Pools, waterfalls and flower beds make up a water garden where mineral and plant mingle. It is recognised as a 'Jardin Remarquable'.
The visit is a quiet walk, suitable for families and garden lovers. The site opens in season, from late spring to early autumn, and the surroundings offer several walks.
