Fort de Brégançon
In the commune of Bormes-les-Mimosas, the Fort de Brégançon stands on a 35-metre rocky peak that for many centuries was separated from the Mediterranean shore by a few fathoms of water. This islet, from which the Toulon roadstead can be watched, has been occupied by a fortress for more than 2,000 years. After belonging to the local nobility, the fort was rented by the State to private individuals, the last of whom renovated it completely. It became a presidential residence in 1968 by decree of Charles de Gaulle.
