Dunes de Slack
This exceptional ecological ensemble, a witness to the geomorphological history and the physical and biological diversity of the Boulonnais coast, has no equivalent on the scale of the European coastline. It brings together the main types of coast that characterise and differentiate this natural region, while making each particular site original.
This great system of recent calcareous dunes and older dunes, which naturally filled part of the estuary and lower valley of the Slack, encloses more or less vast marshy wet depressions, linked on the east and south sides with the back-shore meadows of the alluvial system of the Basse Slack and the non-dune peat marshes of the Warenne (the latter two ensembles not yet included).
