Cité Nature
Cité Nature is a science centre in Arras, in the Pas-de-Calais. Opened in 2005, it occupies the Art Deco buildings of a former miners' lamp factory, the Arras-Maxei works, built in the 1920s and restored by the architect Jean Nouvel.
It is devoted to food, agriculture, nature and health. The permanent exhibition covers about 2,400 m², with two 800 m² mezzanines for temporary exhibitions on themes such as the human body, fruit and vegetables or the five senses. Visitors are invited to handle exhibits and test their knowledge, and a discovery area is aimed at the youngest.
The 15,000 m² of themed gardens extend the visit, with an educational kitchen garden, a bamboo grove and a rose garden. Cité Nature suits families, school groups and anyone curious about science. It offered heritage tours during the European Heritage Days in September 2026.
