Château de Roucourt

Nord, Hauts-de-France

The Château de Roucourt, in the Nord, was built in 1765 in Louis XVI style for Jean François Bérenger, commissioner general of the artillery foundries of France, replacing the old castle further north in the village. Since 1790 the estate has belonged to the family of Baron Becquet de Mégille, then mayor of Douai, who continued to develop it.

The surrounding park, with its orchard and kitchen garden, is on the preliminary inventory of remarkable gardens. It includes a Chinese pavilion, the village's old pillory and a dovecote. The estate is now open for receptions such as weddings, seminars and christenings.
