Château d'Esnes
Dating from the 11th century, 1007 to be precise, the Château d'Esnes, in the Nord, was built by Alard d'Esnes, the first of the twelve peers of the Cambrésis. It then belonged to Gérard d'Esnes and later generations of the same family.
Its architecture dates from between the 13th and 18th centuries. Since the Revolution it has been used as a farm building. The entrance is flanked by two pepper-pot towers, whose pediment was attractively altered in the 18th century. Some rooms in the west wing, whose façade is decorated with 'diamond points' typical of the 17th century, can be visited.
