Château de Lantis
The Château de Lantis, or Lentis, overlooks the village of Dégagnac, in the Quercy, from a mound at the place called La Trémolède. A fortified house is recorded there in 1453. A tower held by Catholic League leaders was taken in 1591 by Marshal de Matignon, who had it razed.
The present château took shape around 1650: a rectangular main building about 25 metres long, flanked by two rectangular turrets, with a door under a triangular pediment, rustication around the windows and a straight grand staircase. Largely ruined by the 19th century, it escaped dismantling in 1993 and was restored by its present owners. It is presented as an example of a 17th-century country seigneury and listed as open to visitors, without recent information on opening periods.
