Château de Caradeuc

Côtes-d'Armor, Bretagne

A French formal park surrounds the Château de Caradeuc, built in 1723 by Anne-Nicolas de Caradeuc, counsellor at the Parlement of Brittany and father of the famous procurator general Louis-René Caradeuc de la Chalotais. The château is in the commune of Plouasne, in the Côtes-d'Armor.

Its 37-hectare park, which extends into the communes of Saint-Pern and Longaulnay, is one of the largest in the region. At the end of the 19th century, at the request of Count René de Kernier, it took on its present design, a mix of French formal and landscape styles. During the 20th century many statues and kiosks were added. In 1954 one of the rare statues of Louis XVI, by the sculptor Molchenet, was placed at the end of a beech avenue.
