Château de Canon et ses jardins

Calvados, Normandie

The château de Canon is a château in the commune of Mézidon-Canon, in the French Calvados département, in Normandy. The château has been listed as a historic monument since 11 June 1941. The château's gardens are classified remarkable gardens, notably thanks to the thirteen walled gardens, called chartreuses, which serve as a setting for hundreds of varieties of flowers and are open to visit. The château also has five tree houses that serve as guest rooms. A cellar is open allowing the sale of organic farm products, made with the château's apples and pears: cider, calvados, halbi, champoiré... A farm wildlife park opened its doors in 2010 and welcomed 10,000 visitors in 2012. The garden visit is paid, the château is visited by appointment.
