Château d'Eaucourt sur Somme
The château of Eaucourt-sur-Somme is a medieval site in the Somme, in the Hauts-de-France. It keeps the remains of a fortified castle, whose oldest parts date from the 14th and 15th centuries, and offers a lively, participatory approach to the Middle Ages.
The visit is animated: visitors meet craftsmen and their skills (stone carving, forging, stained glass, leatherwork, calligraphy), a reconstructed medieval building site in the ruins, daily life of the period, a camp and displays by men-at-arms with a dubbing ceremony and crossbow shooting. A medieval garden and a mystery trail with its medieval bestiary complete the route.
The site welcomes families, school groups and holiday centres, the latter by booking. Outside events, access to the ruins is free. Event periods and the calendar should be checked with the château before going.
