Baie d'Écalgrain

Manche, Normandie

Écalgrain bay forms a vast arc of sand and pebbles in the north-west of the La Hague peninsula, framed by the Nez de Jobourg to the south and the port of Goury to the north. This crescent configuration, open to the Channel, offers one of the most admired panoramas of this coast, though rich in remarkable viewpoints.

Behind the beach, a strip of dunes and a short-cropped heath, spared from the urbanisation that has reached other parts of the Norman coast, keep a preserved natural character. The Nez de Voidries, which borders the bay to the south with its cliffs of more than 120 metres, adds to the site's geological spectacle.

The customs officers' path, which crosses the bay from east to west, lets you discover it on foot as part of a wider hike along the La Hague coast, starting from Auderville in particular. The low evening light, especially in spring and summer, particularly shows off the curves of this wild bay.
