Bagnoles-de-l'Orne
Bagnoles-de-l'Orne is a spa town in the Orne, within the commune of Bagnoles de l'Orne Normandie, created in 2016 by the merger of Bagnoles-de-l'Orne and Saint-Michel-des-Andaines. It occupies a wooded, hilly site, watered by the Vée, with altitudes between 145 and 253 metres. The commune has about 2,700 inhabitants, and more than half of the homes are second homes, a sign of its holiday vocation.
The resort developed around its thermal waters, which tradition says cured an old horse. It spreads around the lake and the Andaines forest, ideal for walking. You can also see a Swedish chalet, built for the Paris World Fair of 1889 and then rebuilt on site, and listed as a historic monument in 2023. The climate is oceanic, with cool summers.
