Réserve Naturelle Coussouls de Crau
An exceptional steppe, the Crau coussoul retraces 6,000 years of interactions between Nature, Man and the Sheep. For millennia the delta left by the Durance has been shaped by flocks to create an environment unique in the world, sheltering exceptional and diverse fauna inherited from African steppes.
The reserve is accessible thanks to the marked Peau de Meau trail: the draille des coussouls. For this you must obtain a pass from the ecomuseum at Saint-Martin-de-Crau. The path lets you make a loop in the middle of the coussouls and reach an observatory in a sheepfold.
