Loire, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

The Musée d'art moderne de Saint-Étienne Métropole, thanks to the importance of its collections, ranks among the major national and international institutions specialising in modern and contemporary art.

It holds the second-largest collection of modern art in France, with more than 15,000 works (paintings, sculptures, installations, drawings), including pieces by emblematic artists such as Picasso, Léger, Dubuffet, Soulages, Stella, Kandinsky, Warhol, Polke, Arp, Richier, Calder and Oldenburg, as well as a large photography collection from Nadar to the present day. There is also a collection of 900 design pieces, one of the most significant in France, with groups devoted to Eames, Le Corbusier and Prouvé.
