Musée Airborne

Manche, Normandie

A first parachute-shaped building houses a WACO glider in its original condition, as well as many display cases filled with period documents. In the second, delta-wing-shaped building, you can see a Douglas C-47 aircraft that took part in dropping paratroopers and towing gliders during Operation OVERLORD. Many mannequins in period dress are on show, as well as personal mementoes given by American veterans.

The Airborne Museum is a museum devoted to the glider-borne soldiers and American paratroopers of the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions, dropped in Normandy during the D-Day landings, on the night of 6 June 1944. It is the main place to visit concerning the Second World War in the Manche département.
