Château de Rouillon
The Château de Rouillon at Chartrettes, in the Seine-et-Marne, was built in 1595 as a copy of a pavilion in the Henry IV quarter of the Château de Fontainebleau. Gabrielle d'Estrées, Henry IV's favourite, is said to have stayed here shortly before her death in 1599.
In 1834 Baron Allouis built a wash house in exchange for tapping the Chevalerie spring to supply the château with running water. The château belonged to Franchetti, commander of the Seine mounted scouts, who died at the Battle of Champigny in December 1870. A private property, it has been run as a guest house since 2001.
