Château de la Buzine

Bouches-du-Rhône, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur

The Château de la Buzine is in the 11th arrondissement of Marseille, in the Bouches-du-Rhône. Built in the 17th century, requisitioned during the Second World War and then abandoned, it was bought by Marcel Pagnol in 1941: it is the 'château de ma mère' immortalised in his childhood memoirs.

After several years of restoration, its 3,200 m² or so were opened to the public. The château is now a cultural venue devoted to the work of Marcel Pagnol and to cinema.
