Château de Brunehaut
At the origin of the Brunehaut estate, in the Essonne, the Brunehaut tower is recorded in 1046. A house with outbuildings is attested in the 16th century and until 1666. In 1688 a 'new pavilion' and a new garden are mentioned.
Major embellishments were carried out for Charles de Viart between 1786 and 1802: the outbuildings were rebuilt, and a park decorated with follies, part of the farm and the mill were created. The Column of Civil Concord bears the date 1800. Between 1859 and 1868 the keeper's house, a wash house, the reservoir building, a gardener's house, an orangery, two greenhouses and a garden were built. In 1873-1874 the architect Charles Lecoeur demolished and added to the outbuildings, and two turrets and an eastern bay were added in 1931.
