Château d'Agnou
The Château d'Agnou (or d'Hagnou) stands in Maule, in the Yvelines, on the Rue d'Hagnou. Built in the 16th century, it is the most important of the commune's three châteaux. Only a wing about sixty metres long and a dovecote remain, the sole surviving parts of the original project.
The dovecote, which could house up to 6,000 pigeons, is said by local sources to be one of the oldest preserved in France. The façade, the roofs and the dovecote tower were listed as a historic monument by decree of 31 July 1979.
The château is private property, being restored by its owners. The park can be visited, and the château itself opens during the European Heritage Days, with historical tours led by the owners.
