Digne-les-Bains

Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur

The main town of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Digne-les-Bains grew up around its thermal springs at the confluence of the Bléone and the Eaux-Chaudes. Calling itself the 'capital of lavender', it celebrates the emblematic flower every summer with a well-known flower parade.

The town is also the gateway to the Haute-Provence Geological Reserve, the largest in Europe, whose famous ammonite slab is just one of many remarkable sites. Digne also has the house of the explorer and writer Alexandra David-Néel, open to visitors as a foundation.
