Château d'Ambleville
Set in a charming small village 60 km from Paris and 70 km from Versailles, the Château d'Ambleville owes much to its location and its history. Its somewhat disjointed architecture, a legacy of its medieval past and Renaissance rebuilding, gives it a special charm, and it also has an interesting Italian-style garden.
The château dates from the Renaissance and is one of the few in the area not spoiled by poor restoration. Pools, a giant chessboard, century-old lime trees, and the green theatre and water theatre created by Salviati-Borghèse are a delight to the eye.
